Online Databases- ABC-CLIO Teams with Project MUSE
Publisher to link two popular databases to online journals
By Michael Rogers -- Library Journal, 05/01/2002
ABC-CLIO again has extended its partnerships by entering into an agreement to link its Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life databases to journals found in the Project MUSE® database. ABC-CLIO customers that also subscribe to Project MUSE will be able to link to the full text of articles abstracted in entries in the two databases. The deal marks the third such agreement for reference publisher ABC-CLIO, which has similar arrangements with JSTOR and the History Cooperative. Historical Abstracts and America: History and Life both contain abstracts of journal articles and book reviews covering world history. Roughly 1600 new abstracts are added annually. Project MUSE is an ongoing program of Johns Hopkins University Press in collaboration with the Milton Eisenhower Library to provide online access to scholarly journals in the areas of literature, history, mathematics, and performing arts, among others.
Consortia Canada joinsAdditionally, Consortia Canada, a national coalition of university, college, special, and public libraries, is participating in Project MUSE through the SOLINET consortium, which will provide the Canadian facilities with a discount.
