Jim Buchman, Associate State Librarian, State Library of Ohio, has retired after 30 years with the agency. He began his career as a Typist/Library Assistant and, among other accomplishments, led the Ohio Talking Book Service through program consolidation and digital transition to selection as the 2011 Network Library of the Year by the National Library Service.

Amber Cushing, doctoral candidate, School of Information and Library Science, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has received the 2011 Thomson Reuters Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Award from the American Society of Information Science and Technology.

Ron Kelley is the new Driver and Operations Coordinator, Bookmobile, at Flagstaff City–Coconino County Public Library, AZ. He formerly worked in technical services at the Capital Area District Library, Lansing, MI.

Cindy Kolaczynski has been named Director and County Librarian of the Maricopa County Library District (MCLD), Phoenix, succeeding Harry Courtright, who served in the position for 12 years. Kolaczynski previously was Deputy Director, MCLD.

Scott McCausland is the new Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Polaris Library Systems (PLS). He had been Director, Library Development at PLS since February. Prior to that he was Regional Vice President of Sales, NetDeposit.

Laura Mitchell, City Librarian, Escondido Public Library, CA, has retired after 20 years in the position. Deputy City Librarian Jo Ann Greenburg will take over as Acting City ­Librarian.

Angela Thornton has been appointed Manager of Library Operations, Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library, Metropolitan Library System (MLS), Oklahoma City. She previously was Manager, Edmond Public Library, MLS.
