Oct 1, 2010Migell Acosta is now Interim Assistant Director for Information Systems, County of Los Angeles Public Library. He will also be the library's CIO. He was Head of Integrated Library Services.
Mary Etta Clemons has retired from her position as Director of Public Services, Wythe County Public Library, Wytheville, VA, after 33 years there.
Denise Davis, Director of the American Library Association's Office for Research and Statistics since 2004, will this month become Deputy Director of the Sacramento Public Library, CA.
Ann Fisher, Director of the Radford Public Library, VA, has retired after 33 years of service. Her successor is Public Services Librarian Toni Cox.
Evelyn Gerges, Manager of the City Island branch of the New York Public Library, has retired after 31 years of service. She won a New York Times Librarian Award in 2004.
Elizabeth Gray is now Assistant County Librarian at the Yolo County Library, Woodland, CA. She directed programming and outreach at Mid--Columbia Libraries, Kennewick, WA.
Timothy Johnson has been appointed the first E.W. McDiarmid Curator of the Sherlock Holmes Collections at the University of Minnesota Libraries, Minneapolis. He was Curator of Special Collections and Rare Books there.
Denise R. Lyons is the new Director of Library Development at the South Carolina State Library. She had been a Consultant at the library. She replaces Deborah Hotchkiss, who retired after 30 years of service.
Kimberly Paone is now Director, Matawan Aberdeen Public Library, NJ. She was Supervisor of Branch Libraries and Teen Services at Elizabeth Public Library, NJ.
Martha Van Pelt is Director, South Central Library System, Madison, WI. She previously headed the Walla Walla Public Library, WA.
Carol Watson, Branch Manager of the Cascades Library, Potomac Falls, part of Loudoun County Public Library, VA, has retired after 20 years in the position.
Obituaries
Katie Ray, Reference Librarian for the Alabama Public Library Service, Montgomery, died August 8; she was 54. She'd worked there since 1982.
Paula J. Wolfe, a University of Arizona Associate Librarian, died July 28; she was 60. She joined the UA Libraries in 1999 and served as liaison between the library and the College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
