Only Spanish-speaking employee leaves Danville library
Last Friday I told you about a Brownsville girl who seized a chance to get a master's degree in library science. She turned 31 over the weekend, meaning the world has another much-needed bilingual librarian for the next four working decades or so.
Meanwhile up in Danville, Illinois the word got out that Rosalba Hernández is coming here to Texas. Which leaves Danville without a Spanish-speaking library employee. You can read about that here.
Music lovers and connoisseurs of the literary arts might remember a collaboration between Bob Dylan and Sam Shepard (both Pulitzer Prize winners, as of this year). They wrote a great song together called "Brownsville Girl." That song was originally titled "New Danville Girl."
Isn't that eerie?
No, it's not. But here's to Danville finding another Spanish speaker to carry on Ms. Hernández's work in the library.
