Yolanda Bonitch honored by REFORMA Northeast
April 21, 2008
This post comes to you from Bogota, Colombia where I am giving a workshop about IFLA/UNESCO Internet Manifesto Guidelines to the attendees of the annual meeting of Presidents of Latin American library associations.
Last Friday, April 18, Yolanda Bonitch was honored by the REFORMA Northeast Chapter with the 2007 Pura Belpré Librarian of the Year award.
Yolanda Bonitch is a Star! Of Maltese and Puerto Rican heritage, Yolanda grew up speaking Spanish as her first language. She embraced service to Spanish Speakers since the beginning of her career. For more than 30 years of librarianship Yolanda has always served multicultural populations with great dedication and passion. She is a model for all of us in the Northeast.
I’ve known Yolanda for seven years and she always has a smile on her face, and wise advice on best services for our communities. Yolada, here’s to you! Congratulations. Felicidades.
