El día de los Niños/ El día de los Libros

Librarians around the country have developed an exciting calendar to celebrate El día de los Niños/ El día de los Libros; Children's Day/Book Day.
Initiated in 1996, Día is a celebration of children, reading and literacy. REFORMA helped made Día into a marvelous nationwide holiday. While looking for examples of programs developed by libraries to honor childhood, I reached out to my fellow REFORMA members and found out that El día de los Niños/ El día de los Libros has truly become a huge celebration planned years in advance!
Libraries are going beyond traditional programming to celebrate El día de los Niños/ El día de los Libros!
The Spring Valley Library is presenting a spectacular real live animal show!
All branches of San Diego County Library host a month long celebration ending with a big bash on April 30.
The Friends of The Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Library System have provided books for children attending programs at all the library branches! Their celebration runs from April 22-May 3.
2008 winner of the Pura Belpré Illustrator Award, Yuyi Morales will visit a number of libraries from the San Mateo County Library.
The Vancouver Community Library, the Farmington Public Library, The Perfecto Oyola Biblioteca Criolla andCultural Center , and the Eugene Public Library are hosting days of storytelling, music, crafts and food open for all families.
