Meet the Mexican-American Martha Stewart
July 2, 2008

All right, it’s finally July 4th weekend. That official time to get outdoors, entertain and socialize. Don't panic, if this sort of thing does not come easy to you. I've got a book to recommend that will make those times away from the computer easier. Need tips on how to live the good life, but cheaply? We all do. And when a book by a fun-loving and gorgeous Mexican-American from Texas is your guide, all the better.

On July 1st, Robyn Moreno, my good friend and editor for Border-line Personalities: A New Generation of Latinas Dish on Sex, Sass, and Cultural Shifting published the book Practically Posh: The Smart Girls Guide to a Glam Life! (HarperCollins, 2008). It’s filled with 256 well-designed and colorful pages of tips, advice, recipes, and personal secrets on how to live the high life on a low budget—from decorating on a dime to buying art on the cheap, and the best time of the year for sales. All done with a touch of pan Latino flair.

Here’s how the press release put it:

There are some things in life we can’t fake, like love and friendship, and some things you just shouldn’t, like sex or a British accent. But, for almost everything else there exists a substitute, a shortcut, a solution to getting what you want, even if you’re short on cash and time.  PRACTICALLY POSH: The Smart Girl’s Guide to a Glam Life is about being resourceful.  It’s about working with what you have, then working what you have.

Move over Martha and make room for Moreno.
(Um, seems like she already has according to this pic on the PraticallyPosh blog.)
