The first is by the Peruvian author and media darling Jaime Bayly. He gave a smart and cutting talk about Ingrid Betancourt’s release from captivity. He’s anti President Chavez, pro Colombian President Uribe, and catty about Betancourt’s cold shoulder given to her husband. Delicious political dishing. Think Jon Stewart meets Charlie Rose, but in Spanish.
The second is a video that was posted on one of my favorite Latino culture sites called www.labloga.com. It’s by the teacher and writer from Los Angeles named René Colato Laínez, who is from El Salvador and writes books for children. He was honored by the Los Angeles Unified School Distritct. Here’s his inspiring talk about why he writes. He'll put a smile on your face.
