And the CABE 2008 Award Goes To......Alma Flor Ada!
Annoucing the California Association for Bilingual Education's 2008 Annual Gala Benefit Dinner Honoring Alma Flor Ada with a Lifetime Achievement Award:

Alma Flor Ada: A powerhouse in children's books
A noted author and a visionary leader dedicated to advocacy for language minority students, their families and teachers, Alma Flor Ada obtained a Ph.D. in Peru and did post doctoral work as a scholar of the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard. Author of over 200 children's books as well as educational books and adult novels, her books have received multiple awards and international recognition. As a professor at the University of San Francisco Alma Flor has mentored numerous educators who now continue her vision of education for social justice, equality and peace.

Felicitaciones Alma, lo mereces por tu trabajo en la literatura infantil. Los cursos multiculturales en USF sirven mucho para todos los que lo estudian, aprenden mucho sobre como funciona la cultura mixta aqui en los EEUU de A. Me sirve mucho lo que aprendí en tus cursos cuando estoy interpretando para latinos, y aún cuando trabajo con anglos que no hablan sino el ingles! Ma. Fca. J.
