Gr 3-6–Have you ever heard of Princess Deletrea de Eritrea? She isn’t very fond of attending balls. She can’t wait for them to be over so she can climb the stairs to her library and guess what…? Read! That’s right. She prefers reading and writing to attending parties. She’s currently writing her autobiography. And what about Princess Caprichosa? A snob who nibbles at her food and asks the impossible: snow in the summer, and shade in the desert. Then there’s Princess Amnesia. She forgets her appointments, misses all her trains, and arrives at events one week too early or three weeks too late! And that’s not all. Princess Zulu Zazu loves to have fun. Tasseled dresses and lavish clothing are her passion. You’ll find her dancing to the rhythm of cumbias at the many fiestas she attends. And then there’s Princesa de la Noche, second daughter of the Queen of the Night and sister to the sweet and beautiful Princess Pamina. Unlike her luminous and agreeable sister, Princesa de la Noche is not very happy and doesn’t care for people; she only cares for her cat. Just when you thought you knew everything about princesses, Lechermeier and Dautremer bring you this superbly illustrated book about an unusual set that will surely charm young and old alike. This marvelously imaginative book, which includes a princess glossary, is highly recommended for all bookstores and libraries.
