Gr 3-5–Featuring 16 poets, from the very popular Francisco Hinojosa to some relatively unknown new voices, this cheerful and ambitious anthology will make young readers laugh out loud as they explore the human body from head to toe. Pacheco’s illustrations can at times be too abstract and/or difficult for young readers to make out, but they fit well with the poems and allow for discussions to take place. Two of the selections speak of the boys and girls reproductive organs respectively and, although they are tasteful and, most importantly, age-appropriate, some people might have reservations about their content. Nonetheless, the combination of rich, fun, suggestive text, along with creative, out-of-the-box illustrations makes this volume essential for all bilingual classrooms, homes, and public libraries.
