Filmed in the United States, this documentary chronicles the lives of six Latinos and Latin Americans who are openly gay, lesbian, or transgender. Moisés and David, young Latinos born in the United States of Latin American parents, recall the clash with their families when they came out as gays and talk about their current lives in Chicago and New York City. Gabriela, a Mexican transgender woman in Washington, D.C. addresses her plight with her mother, who for years had rejected her because of her decision to join the transgender community. Particularly touching is the interview with Gabriela’s mother who painfully remembers her harsh treatment of her daughter before finally accepting her. Marcelo and Gus discuss the role of the Catholic faith into a wholesome gay persona. Ernesto, a more mature man who lives with HIV, considers himself bisexual. Originally from Venezuela, Ernesto states that HIV is still a taboo in his native country, so he still conceals his sexual life from his family in his native country. Highly recommended.
