EB's future
Null
Kathleen Doler -- Críticas, 7/1/1999
I hadn't even officially started here at Electronic Business when the question came. A PR manager at a large semiconductor company asked me "So will you bring the same, er, irreverent, UPSIDE attitude to EB?" I could see his vocal cords tighten as he posed this question.
Fortunately, I'd already anticipated this query. As the former editor of UPSIDE, a publication not known for pulling any editorial punches, I knew my appointment to EB might set a few teeth gnashing.
Let me ease some of that anxiety. I'm not interested in lampooning industry executives, putting women in spandex on EB's cover or exercising my considerable vocabulary of swear words. That's another publication's forte.
I will, however, push EB staffers and contributors to provide the very best in investigative journalism. We're noted for our in-depth corporate profiles and executive biographies. Now we're extending EB's range--by analyzing key trends and digging up information on important industry issues. Turn to "Spoiled rotten" for information that's critical to your business. In this story, our National Editor and Washington Bureau Chief Tam Harbert uses creative prose as she examines corporate accounting abuses and the proposed remedies that will impact all electronics makers.
I'd also like to encourage you to spout off. E-mail me and tell me if you liked a story, or have information or a point of view to add. Disagree with us if you feel so inclined--just keep it clean, as I've vowed to do.
