Blench and Doliner try to reveal the secret messages allegedly hidden in the Sistine Chapel’s marvelous ceilings. According to the authors, Michelangelo painted messages about freedom and tolerance, and even appears to insult the Pope. This book will compel audiences interested in historical events and manifestations of fine arts such as those of Michelangelo. The authors focus greatly on Michelangelo’s life, his ideologie, and how he came to be one of the most important artists of the Renaissance period. The book includes color and black & white pictures of the Sistine’s frescoes to help illustrate the observations made by scholars, as well as the authors themselves. Recommended for bookstores.
