PreS-Gr 1–Bravi invites readers to see the places that more than 50 animals, objects, and characters call home. In her brightly-colored, bold illustrations horses, bees, monkeys, dolls, flowers, clowns, and students stand next to their habitat—a stable, a beehive, a tree, a dollhouse, a garden, a circus, and a school building, respectively. The flowing, brush-style font works well with the illustrations, but beginner readers may have a hard time identifying some of the letters. This boardbook, with its rounded corners and fun imagery, is an excellent tool for young children to acquire new vocabulary. However, it does contain some cultural stereotypes (e.g., a Native American stands next to a tipi, an Eskimo next to an igloo). This translation of an original French title is recommended for home use.
