Gr 1-4–Renowned French children’s author and illustrator Modéré clearly depicts the world of middle-class Europeans in this bilingual dictionary of sentences. The 50 everyday scenarios, one per spread, are accompanied by six simple, clean-cut sentences (three in English, three in Spanish) with the same key word highlighted in both languages. Meant to serve as an additional resource for children learning a second language, this book’s content is didactic but accurate and useful for school homework. With a table of contents at the beginning of the book and an alphabetical dictionary in English and Spanish at the end, the book regrettably lacks a glossary/index with page numbers for quick reference. However, it does include a bilingual review section with page numbers for all the key words. Concise, well-written, and easy to read, the text is complemented by watercolor illustrations. Recommended for school and public libraries with bilingual and/or second-language learner populations.
