PreS-Gr 2–Young Ruth is so full of energy that she cannot stay still for a moment. She is always into something, and that is not always good. She runs into furniture, uses the house curtains as swings, spills the milk at breakfast, and never finishes her food. Her very patient mother needs to count to ten several times a day; especially when the youngster uses half a bottle of her expensive face cream and cuts all the flowers on the terrace. It is hard for the parents to understand that Ruth does not do all these things to be malicious. It is not until her father has an accident while carrying dinner plates one evening that he realizes how his daughter may feel. The vibrant mixed-media illustrations will pull readers into the story and through every room in Ruth’s house. The book includes activities for children and parents to do together; and a psychologist’s note gives advice on how to handle hyperactive children. A good choice for parents and counselors working with hyperactive children.
