PreK-Gr 1–These interactive books for emergent readers vividly describe the featured colors using short sentences and striking photographs. A narrator clearly reads the simple and fluid text as each word on the screen gets highlighted so that children can easily read along. A plethora of adjectives describe the large, vibrant objects displayed on the screen. For example, in Blue, the text next to a picture of blueberries reads, “Blue is juicy and round”; in Yellow, the text next to a jar of mustard says, “Yellow is spicy and hot.” In addition, users can click on different boxes to obtain more information about the illustrations and switch the language at any time. They can also click on the table of contents, glossary, and Internet sites. At the end of each book, a suggested activity page explains how to mix the hues to make green, purple, or orange. These CD ROMs, which look exactly like open books when displayed on the computer screen, will grab children’s attention and aid in their reading and language skills. These titles are an excellent resource for classroom or home use.
