PreS-Gr 1–The two spunky protagonists of this charming title have a lot in common. Their names are similar (Margarita and Margaret), they are the same age, go to the same school, and have a number of the same preferences. However, they both like to do things their own way—“a mi manera”—so their hair, clothes, salutations, art forms, and even napping all have distinctive styles. Sometimes they like to mix things up a bit, do what the other one does, “a tu manera;” and other times they do things both ways. But the best way of doing things, they agree, is doing them together. This sunny tale of independence and friendship is perfect for those preschoolers who are just beginning to express their individuality but want to stay in sync with their friends. The bright, open watercolor cartoon illustrations enhance the story and will engage the attention of young listeners. This series title is a winner for both libraries and bookstores.
