Written by experts in the field with the Hispanic population in mind, this book begins by explaining what Hepatitis C is (a liver disease), the different stages of development and how it compares with other diseases (Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and HIV). The authors also describe the different treatments available—including alternative or therapeutic treatments—depending on age, other illnesses, and other factors; common side effects; liver transplants; and other complications. Chapters also describe the different reactions of recently diagnosed patients, common question patients ask themselves, and ways family members can support their loved ones. The authors provide patient stories throughout to illustrate their points. The appendixes cover additional topics and a list of different U.S. organizations and Spanish-language web sites. A great source of information specially for U.S. Hispanics, this book is recommended for all public and academic libraries and all bookstores.
