Tower Records Launches Online Bookstore

Hispanic readers who are used to buying Spanish-language books on the web will now have another virtual bookstore to select their titles from. Tower Records, America’s leading music and entertainment retail chain, has launched a new online bookstore featuring more than 20,000 Spanish-language titles. Baker & Taylor is supplying fulfillment, data, and software for the store, which is located at www.tower.com/books.
Though Tower Records is also in the process of expanding the book and magazine sections in many of its stores nationwide, only the company’s four freestanding bookstores will carry a limited supply of Spanish-language titles. “The number [will] fluctuate based on bestsellers available and season,” said spokesperson Lisa Amore. “We do not currently carry any foreign language book titles in the record stores because space is too limited.”
Like other online boutiques, Tower will eventually add book reviews, text excerpts, and other data to the site. In honor of the launch, the site will feature an introductory bonus offer that gives book buyers up to $50 back to spend on future purchases at Tower.com. “Tower.com differentiates itself from other online bookstores with its search/navigation tools,” said Amore. “It is easy to find the book you want and our pricing is as competitive, if not better, than any online book seller.”
